Georgia (Life Size)

2013 Frontgate Christmas Collection

This life-size Eula doll was brought back by Katherine's Collection exclusively to Frontgate in 2013 after the Eula & Mae Line of Dolls was retired 2010. She was brought back with the new name Georgia. There are many more themed variants of Eula out there made by Katherine's Collection. She also has a friend called Mae that was made by Katherine's Collection.

This is the story of Eula and Mae I found on a facebook page post

The “story” of Eula and Mae:

The two dolls were originally designed in 2001 and premiered for our summer shows in a theme called "Oh Did You Hear". Only 1,000 of these ladies were made at the time. These two ladies were our original gossip gals. As the story around Katherine's Collection goes, they were inspired by founder of Katherine's {Katherine Kleski} tea totaler aunt Mae who was a dear sweet quiet little old lady, and her rambunctious and boisterous best friend Eula. The dolls were so well received during the summer show season (EVERYONE knew "someone who looks just like one or the other") we carried them over to the 2002 holiday collection under the same name.

These adorable ladies became almost an icon of Katherine's Collection, just like our original Kissing Fish. It's who we were come to be known for in the retail industry. Many collections were created around these fun whimsical characters, including:

"Breakfast at Tiffany's" - dressed in formal wear with fur coats

"Beach collection" - dressed in their hot summer bathing suits

"Who spiked the eggnog" - dressed in their christmas party attire

"Uptown Girls" - dressed in formal showgirl (think back up singers for the Supremes)

"Mommie's in the Kitchen" - dressed in their "everyday" fancy christmas outfits with aprons--cooking!

"Under the old apple tree" - dressed in the summer gardening attire

"Signature series" - dressed in their Easter finery...these 32" {not display size} dolls were signed by co-owner Wayne Kleski and were numbered, and only 100 were created

"Halloween treats" - dressed in (Eula-jungle cat and Mae-pumpkin) costumes

These ladies were completely retired from our collections in 2010.

They were so popular however, that in January of this year we brought them back again so they are again available to order. They were also exclusively in Front Gate catalog for a year "assuming different names".

These dolls typically take an average of 1 week to create from beginning to final doll. The design of each doll takes approximately 100 hours with an amazingly talented team of designers, artists, pattern makers and sculptors adding their talents and input to create the “prototype” doll to be reverse engineered and then created exactly as the original using pre selected fabrics, etc. Some of Katherine’s Collection dolls incorporate more than 200+ different materials (including fabrics, trim, resins, thread, etc) in one item! Each doll typically only carries through one or two seasons at most. The Wayne Kleski tag was sewn into all our dolls at that time, as Mr. Kleski was co-owner of Katherine’s Collection and headed up the design team at that time. Today, each doll comes with a signature label including the signature of our creative director, Francisco Yepo.
